From Responsible Research and Innovation to responsibility by design

Drawing on more than eight years working to implement Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI) in the Human Brain Project, a large EU-funded research project that brings together neuroscience, computing, social sciences, humanities, one of largest investments RRI project, this article offers insights explores its possible future. We focus question how can have long-lasting impact persist beyond time horizon funded projects. For purpose, we suggest concept ‘responsibility by design’ which is intended encapsulate idea embedding innovation way makes it part fabric resulting outcomes, our case, distributed European Infrastructure.
